We continue to encourage new approaches to sustainable building—and as part of this, our programs reward innovative sustainable building practices above and beyond what is contained within our programs. These practices may be awarded with innovation points on our program checklists.
Checklist Points
For points to apply, the innovation must be tied to the BUILT GREEN® project going for certification and will be reviewed by the Technical Standards Committee. Points are awarded based on the significance, improvement, and measurability of the innovative practice. Submissions may also be considered for adoption into the following year’s program checklist. We're also encouraging reporting on embodied carbon for innovation points.
Hearing from industry helps to keep our programs progressive, as we recognize that those on the ground, doing the work, are often the ones learning and finding new ways of doing things.
