Built Green continues to grow interest with Calgary's new home buyers

Calgary and area builders enrolled more single-family homes in the Built Green Canada program in 2016 than a year earlier.

The third party certification program uses a checklist to measure a home’s energy efficiency. It looks at the materials and methods used in the construction of the home, along with its waste management, water conservation, ventilation and air quality performance.

“Despite the economic downturn, coupled with the drywall tariff, new building code, and new (Canada Mortgage and Housing Corp.) mortgage rules, Built Green Calgary region builders remain committed to innovation showing incredible leadership in sustainable building practices,” says Jenifer Christenson, chief executive director for Built Green. “Their perseverance is remarkable.”
